The Architecture of Safety
Mission-critical environments — from the high-security Control Rooms at ESA-ESTEC to high-rise hospitals — demand absolute safety. Compromised fire integrity here is not just an error; it is a catastrophic operational and financial event.
BraVeBo B.V. is your proven specialist in Passive Fire Protection (PFP): the built-in, always-active systems that guarantee compartmentation. We weave safety into the fabric of your building, protect critical assets, and safeguard business continuity. We don’t just meet the standard — we exceed it.
Your compliance ends where our certification begins.
Closing the Critical Vulnerability
The Firewall Integrity Paradox
Buildings inevitably require penetrations for vital systems: cables, pipes, and ducts. Each one represents a potential critical vulnerability.
The Unfixed Threat & Smoke Integrity
If not correctly sealed, these openings become direct conduits for the rapid, three-dimensional spread of flames, heat, and toxic smoke — causing accelerated structural damage and catastrophic asset loss.
In Case of Fire, There Is No Second Chance!
Most fire fatalities occur due to smoke inhalation, not burns — another reason why smoke integrity is crucial.
The BraVeBo Mission: Building the Invisible Shield
When smoke moves, seconds decide everything. In the hidden voids above ceilings and behind walls, fire doesn’t need permission — only one weak spot.
Every cable, pipe, and duct forms a potential escape route for flames and smoke. Our mission: to eliminate these routes permanently with certified systems.
- Proven resistance.
- Documented safety.
- Certified integrity.
BraVeBo B.V. builds the invisible shield that makes the difference between containment and catastrophe.
The BraVeBo Engineering Solution & Systems
We implement highly specialized firestop penetrations — certified systems using advanced materials (intumescent, endothermic, and ablative compounds). These solutions are designed to seal openings permanently while maintaining the fire resistance of the structure, its EI classification, and WRD performance.
The Superior Reliability of Passive Systems
Unlike active systems that need to trigger first, the simplicity of PFP ensures higher reliability and zero downtime for checks. We integrate WBDBO and WRD (Sa/S200) performance into both design and execution, specifying only systems with proven Sa/S200 classifications. BraVeBo delivers life-saving fire and smoke containment before mechanical systems respond — with alarm signaling at the source.
Our firestop seals stand permanently ready — day and night.
Precision Firestop Seals (Passive Fire Protection): Beyond Standard Foam
We design and install fully tested systems that deliver absolute compartmentation. We avoid generic PU fire foams as primary firestops unless the exact configuration is tested and classified, since many such foams are combustible and may contribute to smoke generation. Our solutions are tailored to the life-cycle needs of your installations, using high-performance materials from leading manufacturers such as Firetect and ROCKWOOL.
The Substandard Risk vs. The BraVeBo-Certified Solution
| The Substandard Risk | The BraVeBo-Certified Solution & Advantage |
|---|---|
| Combustible foams can produce dense, toxic smoke and fail to seal reliably. | High-density mineral wool (≥160 kg/m³): naturally non-combustible, excellent thermal insulation, and minimal smoke generation. Ideal as backing and for large opening seals. |
| Uncontrolled gaps and joints allow rapid smoke and heat passage. | Layered seal systems: mineral wool backing sealed with intumescent mastic and finished with airtight coating. Multi-stage protection against fire, heat, and smoke. |
| Inadequate pipe seals fail to accommodate movement or properly close plastic conduits. | Graphite-based intumescent wraps and collars: expand strongly under heat, forming a rigid carbon layer that compresses melting plastics and fully closes openings. |
Your result: EI/WRD-tested assemblies; rapid re-entry and maintenance without classification loss; material selection with low smoke emission.
Demonstrable Compliance: Core Standards
Authorized systems (including Firetect) operate according to the EN 1366 series and ISSO-SBR 809, with site-specific procedures and coordinated planning, access, and handover.
| Compliance Area | Norm / Certification | Technical Description & Assurance |
|---|---|---|
| Fire Resistance - WBDBO | NEN 6068 (Bbl) (WBDBO) – Resistance to Fire Spread & Flashover | Limits fire spread and flashover for the required duration; safeguards compartment boundaries. |
| Smoke Resistance - WRD | NEN 6075 — Sa & S200 (WRD) – Resistance to Smoke Leakage | Limits smoke transmission; protects escape routes and sensitive equipment from toxic smoke. |
| Penetrations | NEN-EN 1366-3 (Test Method) | European test method for fire resistance of service penetrations; validates system integrity under extreme stress. |
| Linear Joints | NEN-EN 1366-4 (Test Method) | Required method for joints in walls and floors; ensures compartment integrity. |
| Safety Management | VCA VOL Certification | Demonstrates company-wide competence in Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) for high-risk operations. |
Compliance: A Legal and Insurance Imperative
In the Netherlands and the EU, effective firestopping is a legal requirement under the Besluit bouwwerken leefomgeving (Bbl). Under CPR (EU) 305/2011, products falling under a harmonized standard or evaluated via ETA (EAD / ETAG 026 route) must be accompanied by a Declaration of Performance (DoP) and CE marking.
Building owners and facility managers carry a continuous legal obligation to maintain all fire safety provisions. This includes safeguarding the integrity of certified firestops and fire compartments — a mandatory condition for occupancy permits and insurance validity.
- Mandatory Compliance: Meeting Bbl and relevant NEN standards is required for construction and occupancy approval.
- Insurance Validity: Post-fire claims may be denied if non-conforming or substandard seals contributed to fire or smoke spread.
- Specific Duty of Care (Bbl): The Bbl imposes a continuous duty on both owners and users/managers to prevent hazardous conditions and maintain fire safety systems; assign an accountable party within FM/governance.
- Liability: Non-conforming seals can result in administrative enforcement (restriction or closure) and, in cases of gross negligence or serious injury, even criminal prosecution (Art. 307/308 Sr; Art. 51 Sr for legal entities).
Your advantage: you sleep peacefully; compartments hold. No smoke, no panic — maximum continuity, minimal liability.
Traceability: Your Audited Proof of Safety
We provide documented, audited proof of safety. Our commitment to traceability creates unmatched confidence and limits your liability exposure.
Every seal receives a unique QR label directly linked to its digital compliance dossier. This strengthens compliance, accelerates audits, and reduces liability risk.
What we guarantee:
- Unique Identification: QR / ID per seal, linked to work order and drawing.
- Penetration Data: type (cable, tray, pipe / duct), diameter / dimensions, residual gaps.
- Complete Documentation: photo log before–during–after, exact location (room / coordinates), materials with batch / lot and DoP / CE.
- Classified Solution: brand / type, ETA / EAD (ETAG 026) reference, EI classification, WRD Sa / S200 in accordance with NEN 6075 / EN 13501-2 / EN 1366-3 - 4 / ISSO-SBR 809.
- Audit & Archiving: complete dossier (PDF / ZIP), 10-year retention in Fire Seal DB, version control and role-based access rights.
Your advantage: faster inspections, audits, and insurance claims, direct traceability at re-entry, and a stronger legal position.
